Fearless Positivity January 10 2017
Take on 2017 with a fresh perspective from our inspiring leader and CEO, Rachel
Ringing in the New Year is a perfect opportunity to not only reflect on the previous year, but also to start fresh and tackle new goals.
As the CEO of a growing company and mom of three busy kids, it is crucial for me to continue striving for improvement. Here are a few pieces of advice that I refer to when I need a little boost to get back on track.
1. Get Naked
No, I don't mean dance around your bedroom in your birthday suit (no judgment!), but instead, I am referring to vulnerability. When we do things that make us feel exposed and vulnerable, it is natural to back away. Instead, I always try to lean into my vulnerability and allow myself to “get naked" so-to-speak.
For me, embracing this sense of vulnerability has allowed me to grow personally and professionally and, ultimately, to lead a more genuine, empathetic and overall more successful life.
2. Fail Forward
Fear of failure can hold you back from greatness. Without failure, we lose the opportunity to learn and make improvements. One thing to keep in mind, however, is to fail forward. As in, when you make a mistake, learn from it and quickly pivot your thinking and behaviour.
3. Execution Trumps Knowledge Every Time
It is easy to say no to a situation simply because you feel inadequate or lack knowledge. Stop! I encourage you to learn through your experiences and seek out projects that allow for learning and growth.
4. Don’t forget the basics
The most important piece of advice I, or anyone, can give is to make your health a priority—both mental and physical. Eat nourishing food, get enough sleep and move your body.
I hope these tips will help you stay focused and determined to tackle a new year with fearless positivity. I wish you a very empowered 2017!
